Ticket agency apologises to Leeds Festival fans

A leading ticket agency has apologised after throwing the plans of Leeds Festival-bound music fans into confusion.

See Tickets is one of the main authorised ticket sellers for the festival, which starts on Friday at Bramham Park near Wetherby.

But today it emerged the firm has left some fans sweating on the arrival of their tickets for the three-day event.

In a message posted on its Facebook web page, the company said: "The vast majority have been delivered but we acknowledge there are still some tickets with Royal Mail on their way to you."

The message went on: "We realise that a lot of customers have been left frustrated and angry at the late dispatch of these tickets and for this we unreservedly apologise."

No details were given on the number of people affected or the reason for the mailout delay.

Furious fans posting replies to the statement on Facebook accused the firm of sending out mixed messages.

Phone calls to a See Tickets number in Nottingham were met with a recording that said all tickets would arrive by 1pm on Wednesday.

However, some buyers have been sent emails asking them to pick up their tickets from the Crash Records music store in Leeds city centre.

Crash recently agreed to act as a festival ticket collection point in the expectation it would have to deal with only a few dozen fans, the majority of whom would be getting their passes in person as they live abroad.

In the event, though, Crash boss Ian De-Whytell believes as many as 1,000 people have been told they will have to collect their tickets from his store.

Reps from See Tickets were at the shop on Wednesday dealing with a steady stream of fans turning up for their tickets.

Mr De-Whytell said: "It's been a bit of a nightmare, to be honest, having to deal with it all and I just hope people realise the delays have got nothing to do with us."

Bramham Park's festival campsites are due to open at 3am on Thursday, with heavy traffic likely on roads to the site until Friday afternoon.
