Three people have been arrested by police investigating the death of 21-year-old Shane Kirkbright.

Mr Kirkbright, of Station Road, Normanton fell seriously ill at a flat above the One Stop shop in nearby Church Road, Altofts, in the early hours on Friday.

He was taken by ambulance to Pinderfields Hospital at Wakefield.

Police were called to the hospital on Friday morning after Mr Kirkbright lost his fight for life.

Two men aged 19 and 37, and a 27-year-old woman were later arrested in connection with the incident.

All three were questioned by detectives before being released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police were yesterday unable to comment when asked what offence the three were arrested on suspicion of committing.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called to Pinderfields at about 8.15am on Friday following the death of a 21-year-old man from the Normanton area. A post mortem has taken place which proved inconclusive. Enquiries are on going in to the circumstances of his death, which is unexplained.”

Floral tributes have been placed on a fence next to the flat on Church Road.

And a framed photograph of former Normanton Freeston High School student Mr Kirkbright has also been attached to the fence.

It bears the message: “RIP Shane sleep tight, all our love Tyler, Lewis, Jasmine and Faye.”

Another message attached to a floral bouquet reads: ‘Shane, you will be forever in our hearts. Love you till the end of time.’

Mr Kirkbright’s friend Todd Stevenson, 18, told the YEP: “He was the greatest lad I have ever known. He had time for everybody.”

Mr Stevenson, of Altofts, added: “It has ripped everybody to pieces.”
