Three new dentists on way...and here's the drill to contact them

HEALTH chiefs are ploughing £350,000 into improving dental treatment in Wakefield and district.

The extra funding will pay for three new dentists in West Wakefield, Castleford and South Elmsall, says Wakefield District Primary Care Trust .

The new dentists will be in place by the end of March.

Mick Armstrong, chair of the Local Dental Committee, said: "We welcome this positive step by the trust to improve access to NHS dental services for patients. We hope they continue to improve availability to high-quality services across the district."

Wakefield District PCT Chief Executive Alan Wittrick said: "Access to a dentist is a major concern for local people. We have responded to that feedback with this latest investment.

"We hope it will have a positive impact and make it much easier for residents across the district to register with a dentist and to receive regular dental check-ups and treatment.

Investment

"In addition we are already looking at further investment for 2008/09, so people should be reassured that NHS dental services are a priority for the PCT."

To register with one of the new dentists contact the dental enquiries helpline on 0845 122 0221.

Your details will be passed to the relevant practice who will then contact you to arrange a suitable appointment.
