The Knowledge: Strawberry delight
It's Friday – and our experts are here to tell you how to get the most out of your weekend. Jayne Dawson talks to them
Eat it
As the summer progresses, all the succulent fruits of the season start to appear. The classic is strawberries covered with thick, luscious pouring cream but there are other more unusual seasonings.
Try a few drops of balsamic vinegar, a very fine sprinkling of black pepper, or a little grated orange zest and juice.
Fruit compotes cooked slowly and with a dash of sugar and elderflower cordial are lovely too.
Visit it
Try a slice of nostalgia at the vintage fair on Saturday.
The fair, selling collectables from many eras, including fashion, jewellery, accessories and furniture, plus a fifties-inspired gingham tea room complete with fairy cakes, cucumber sandwiches and specialist teas, all served in vintage crockery, will be set up at the Methodist Centre, Chapel Allerton, Leeds from 10am-4pm.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND
Greatest Hits (Columbia)
Fuelled by a love of Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, Bruce Springsteen hitched up with fellow New Jersey musicians The E Street Band in 1972.
In the ensuing 37 years they've released 10 studio albums and three live records together, the pick of which are collected together on this 18-track compilation.
Early favourites such as Rosalita and Blinded By the Light – successfully covered by Manfred Mann's Earth Band – show the Boss's burgeoning gift for wordplay while Born to Run and Thunder Road are fist-pumping anthems that laid the template for Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell and Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclispe of the Heart.
From their greatest commercial triumph, Born in the USA, comes Glory Days, I'm on Fire, Dancing in the Dark and the towering title track, whose musical bombast disguises a downbeat critique of America's treatment of veterans of the Vietnam war.
For good measure there are also more restrained selections from recent albums The Rising and Magic plus a rip-roaring live version of Because The Night, that Springsteen originally co-wrote with Patti Smith.
Nestbuilding
If your kitchen is in need of a wake up call then attention grabbing accessories are the way forward. You could opt for some really colourful crockery or some cheeky, brightly coloured tea towels for an instant refresh.
If you want something a bit classier this Crown Ice Bucket from Barker and Stonehouse (barkerandstonehouse.co.uk) would add instant glamour. When not being used as an ice bucket it will double up as a stylish fruit bowl.
And if you just want to add the latest trend to your kitchen then opt for the Modern Botanicals mugs which feature a range of flowers and insects – a huge hit for summer.
Get fit
Top trainer Richard Hill will be putting his fitness to the test to raise cash for charity by running in the Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10k on Sunday.
Here, he gives you his favourite exercise of the week to try.
Adductor & Hamstring Stretch
Try this stretch after your gym session. Keep the legs locked out and try to get your hands flat to the floor, breathing out as you descend. The stretch should be felt in the inner thighs and back of the legs. For great flexibility, you should be able to get your hands flat to the floor. If you cannot get there, try moving your legs a little farther apart. A great stretch for runners and speed skaters.
Please consult your GP before embarking on a programme of exercise. For more info. visit www.richardhill.org.uk or www.funclasses.co.uk.

The Beach House
Jane Green (Penguin, 7.99)
One summer a group of strangers – each with their own reason for wanting to step out of their busy life – meet at a rented beach house in sunny Nantucket.
There's Daniel, who's causing heartbreak for his wife Bee; recently divorced Daff, who feels she's lost touch with her daughter Jess; and Michael – son of the house's mischievous , free-spirited owner Nan – who is having an ill-advised fling with his boss.
With so many lost souls gathered under one roof, very soon there are tears and laughter, friendship and – for some – even love.
Each one of them is hoping for a new beginning. But will any of them find it?
