Supermarket staff in Leeds have scooped a £18m lottery windfall.

The five workers now face the daunting task of how to spend their millions after wining the jackpot on the mythical Mercury Millions lottery in Leeds scriptwriter Kay Mellor’s latest TV hit.

A suburban supermarket in the city and the iconic Bramham Park are among some of the recognisable city backdrops to feature in Kay’s newest prime-time drama The Syndicate.

Horsforth’s very own Matthew Lewis, who shot to stardom in the Harry Potter movies, and Gavin and Stacey’s Joanna Page are just some of the faces who are set to star in the show, which is due to air in March.

Kay, who penned television smashes Band of Gold and Fat Friends, said: “I visualise all my stories happening here.

“Filming brings people to the city I am very proud of.”
