The Cribs: Wakefield drummer has spinal surgery

Indie music star Ross Jarman has been forced to take a break from his rock ’n’ roll lifestyle after undergoing spinal surgery.
Ross, drummer with Wakefield group The Cribs, had the operation to correct a herniated disc that was pushing on a nerve and causing him acute pain.
The musician suffered the injury while lugging around some of his band’s gear.
In a statement on Facebook, Ross and his fellow Cribs said: “Things kept getting worse...to the point where even just sitting on a plane became a gruelling ordeal, so the decision was made to have the operation.
“It was a pretty gnarly procedure, involving the spinal cord actually being moved and what follows now is six weeks of rest and rehabilitation, but then we will be back to work on album number five.”
Ross, 26, has also kept fans informed about his progress via Twitter.
In one recent tweet, he jokingly complained he was so bored he was watching an old episode of game show You Bet on digital TV station Challenge.
He also sent out a ‘thank you’ message to Edwyn Collins after the singer-songwriter tweeted him a ‘get well soon’ message.
Further good wishes came today from Cribs superfan Emma Burnell, 29, of Gildersome in Leeds. She said: “We’re all hoping Ross makes a speedy recovery.
“Hopefully it won’t be too long before he’s back on stage.”
Ross makes up one third of The Cribs, along with his brothers, twins Ryan and Gary Jarman.
Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr began working with the band in 2008 but earlier this year, it emerged they had gone their separate ways.
