A teenager has died after plunging from the Trinity Leeds shopping centre car park.

The 17-year-old suffered fatal injuries after falling from the multi-storey building on Swinegate on Wednesday night.

Police do not believe the incident was suspicious.

Insp Andrea Cartwright, of Leeds city neighbourhood policing team, said: “Officers were called at 10.38pm on Wednesday to a report that a male had fallen from the Trinity Leeds car park.

“He was pronounced deceased by paramedics at the scene. He is believed to be a 17-year-old from the North Yorkshire area and his family have been made aware.

“At this stage there is nothing to suggest any third party involvement in the death and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

A spokeswoman for Land Securities, which owns Trinity Leeds, said: “We were made aware of an incident in the car park last night and are working with the emergency services.”
