One teenager was bitten by a police dog and three were arrested after officers were called to deal with crowd trouble outside an underage club night in Leeds.
Problems started outside La Boheme on Cross York Street on Tuesday when club owner Millan Shalo tried to turn away hundreds of youngsters who had turned up for the over-16s dance event.
Mr Shalo said he was concerned about overcrowding because there were hundreds more customers than the club could accommodate.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said officers then had to deal with a large crowd, many of whom were drunk.
He added: “Officers dispersed the crowd and remained in the area working with the licensee to manage the gradual release of those inside the club.
“The club closed shortly before 1am and groups were dispersed into the city centre. Three males, aged 16, 17 and 19, were arrested for affray following an incident in Briggate.”
One person required medical treatment after being bitten.
Mr Shalo said: “The decision not to let any more in was for safety reasons. A lot of them were understandably unhappy because they had been sold wristbands to get in by the promoters. I think it’s safe to say we won’t hold any more of these events.”
