Swimmers tackled the Leeds Liverpool Canal – from the comfort of historic Bramley Baths.
The sponsored swim was to raise cash for the Friends of Bramley Baths, who take over the running of the Edwardian facility later this year.
They set themselves the target of covering the 127 miles of the famous canal in total.
Geraldine Flynn, from the friends group, said they were hoping schoolchildren would help them reach the goal: “We are going to try and get more schools involved.
“We’ve had £1,000 pledged so far but there are also people who are going to do their lengths in their own time.”
