Supermarket jobs boost for Leeds
Supermarket giant Tesco has announced plans to build a new store in Leeds, creating 140 jobs.
The store is to be built on Old Lane, Beeston, on the site of a former jam factory.

Company bosses say the proposals are for a modern and spacious eco-store bringing a wider choice of fresh quality goods to the area.

The store would employ up to 140 staff mainly recruited from the local community.

Tesco is planning to focus its recruitment in Beeston by working with
the local JobCentre Plus.
Environmental features for the proposed building include roof lights and high-level glazing for natural light, roof air vents, rainwater harvesting and energy produced from waste.
The plans also include a signature pedestrian entrance using
traditional building materials on Old Lane.
Residents are being asked for their views on the proposals when they are made available tomorrow.
They can be viewed at Beeston Hill United Free Church, Malvern Road, between 11am and 2pm, and Beeston Village Community Centre, St Anthony's Drive, between 4pm and 8pm.
It is expected that Tesco will apply to Leeds City Council for planning permission later this month following further public consultation.
Matthew Magee of Tesco said: "We want to talk to people about bringing a great new Tesco to the area, which will offer a large range of high quality products at the great value we're known for.
"We're interested to hear what people think about the new proposals, what they would like to see in the store, and how we make sure that the jobs go to local residents.
"The public exhibitions are open to all, and we are looking for views from every part of the local community."
The exhibition will provide more detailed information on the proposals as well as allowing local residents the opportunity to feedback their opinions.
Tesco have purchased the land, which was once the site of Moorhouses jam factory.
Back in 2003 plans were rejected to build one of the country's biggest purpose-built snooker and pool halls on the site.
Hundreds of objectors fought plans to build Club 147 on the site amid claims it could rival Sheffield's Crucible theatre as the country most prestigious snooker venue.
