Stolen 4x4 used in Leeds store ram raids

A STOLEN 4x4 was used in two ram raids in Leeds within 30 minutes.

The red Land Rover Discovery, registration N101 KKH, smashed through shutters at Clothing World, in Ledgard Way, Armley, at about 4.15am on Tuesday (Sept 25) by a gang of hooded thieves who stole jeans worth £1,000.

Then, at 4.45am, the same vehicle was reversed into the front of Carlos Superstores, in Cross Lane, Farnley. The gang fled empty-handed after the alarm went off.

The Land Rover – stolen from a house in Wortley on September 21 – was later recovered by police.

Det Insp John Dexter, of North West Leeds CID, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw the Land Rover at any point between when it was stolen and when the incidents occurred or who has any information about jeans being offered for sale in suspicious circumstances.”

Call Det Con Tom Pearman at Weetwood police station via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

The incident is not being linked to a similar incident at Makro in Lower Wortley this month, when a stolen 4x4 was used to steal thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes.
