Volunteers are needed for the 19th Hyde Park Unity Day, an annual summer event that aims to bring thousands of people in the community together.

The event features performances from a diverse range of bands and entertainers, offering something that appeals to all members of the LS6 community. This year, up to 6,000 people are expected to attend.

Anna Wallace, who has been involved with the event for the past ten years, says there is a voluntary job to suit everybody's needs.

She said: "This year we are aiming to hire between 60 and 80 people, and the beauty of the job is that anyone can do it. We'll need stewards to be the eyes and ears of the festival, but it's an easy, enjoyable job and in the past our stewards have had wonderful experiences contributing to the community spirit.

"No special skills are needed to be a steward, and it's a great addition to a CV. If that isn't enough, you get a free T-Shirt and meal.

"We'll also need more physically fit people to join our event crew, helping us set up the stalls before the event kicks off".

The date of the event won't be revealed until a fortnight before, so stewards need to be available on Saturday's across this summer. To apply, email hydeparkunityday@gmail.com
