A boy chorister, Stephen, pictured furthest right, lived in Roundhay before he won a scholarship to study at the Guildford School of Music and Drama when he was 18-years-old.

Stephen said: "It is fantastic to be back in my home county, celebrating Yorkshire in a musical way. I am really excited to sing with all The King's Singers at York Minster and to be part of such a wonderful event."

Themed 'A Yorkshire Celebration', the event will include performances from The King's Singers, who are making a rare visit to the county, euphonium soloist David Childs, former winner of the brass section of BBC Young Musician of the Year, and Yorkshire's very own Brighouse & Rastrick Band, conducted by brass band legend Phillip McCann.

Items

The concert will be hosted by BBC Radio 2's Frank Renton, presenter of Listen to the Band.

The event will also feature the world premires of two items, arranged specially for the occasion by Leigh Baker, which The King's Singers will perform accompanied by the band.

There will also be some Yorkshire-themed items.

The Yorkshire Foundation promotes the region and community initiatives within the county.

Concert organiser Philip Wainwright said: "I am delighted that these performers have agreed to come and take part in what will be a very special event indeed.

"The concert will use awe-inspiring talent to celebrate a wonderful region and I urge people not to miss out on this rare opportunity."

The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at 10, 15, 20 and 25 (concessions available) and are available from York Minster Box Office on 01904 557 208 or at www.boxoffice.yorkminster.org.
