Spice Girl Mel B sings praises of Leeds - in Manchester
LEEDS lass Mel B continually flew the flag for her home city as the Spice Girls whirlwind swept north on Wednesday night.
Throughout the sell-out show at Manchester Arena Scary trumpeted the fact she was a Loiner and gained a rapturous response from fans who'd crossed the Pennines to see their idols.
The audience went wild as the gold-clad quintet, flanked by a legion of male dancers, burst onto the stage to their signature tune Spice up your Life.Watching from the front row was a number of famous faces including David Beckham and his sons, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, Cheryl Tweedy from Girls Aloud and Take That's Jason Orange.

"Northern audiences are the best," yelled Mel B after the thunderous reaction which heralded them. "Yeh, you're on our turf now," added Scary turning to the southern band members.
The girls then waxed lyrical about how good it was to be back in Manchester – Posh recalled happy times while her husband was playing for United and Baby pointed out she met her long term partner in the city.
Emma then said: "Manchester rules!"
"And Leeds!" Mel B chipped in once more, gaining another round of cheers from the Loiners in the audience.
The group are due to play three dates in Manchester this week after completing a 17-night run at London's O2 Arena.
It was today claimed that the girls each pocketed a staggering 10m for their stint at the former Millennium Dome. But the girls insist they haven't come back for the cash and reminded fans the tour has cost them over 18m to stage.
And Wednesday's spectacular show looked every penny. With a breathtaking light show, giant screens and endless, extravagant costume changes The Spice Girls have clearly spared no expense.
Nor have they lost their magic touch – bounding around the stage with as much energy as they did 10 years ago and whipping the crowds into a frenzy as they sped through their instantly-recognisable back catalogue.
But the girls looked equally elated to be back on stage – small wonder since, on top of the lucrative London leg of their tour, all the Manchester shows have also sold out.
