Up to 30 jobs are expected to be lost after a pet centre in Leeds announced it was closing.
Owners Mars have confirmed that the mypetstop store in Tingley has ceased trading, along with the mypetstop centre in Manchester.
The spokesman described it as a “difficult decision” which had been reached following a period of consultation.
The spokesman added: “General trading has now ceased but we will be continuing all pet boarding services until Friday, November 9.
“We would like to thank our customers and pets who have used the services of the site over the years.
“We will be contacting customers who have future bookings with us. Anyone who may have any queries can contact the site direct.”
The Tingley centre, which opened in 2004, offered a range of services including pet boarding facilities, day care, grooming, dog training classes, canine hydrotheraphy and a shop.
Between 20 and 30 people are understood to have been employed there.
During the Olympics, the centre received international coverage when pictures were broadcast of Nicola Adams’s pet dog watching her box her way to a gold medal.
The 29-year-old Leeds boxer had put her Doberman Dexter into the kennels and paid for him to have a television so he could watch her fight.
Nicola, who grew up in Burmantofts, secured the first-ever Olympic gold medal in women’s boxing when she defeated Ren Cancan of China.
