South Leeds: Gildersome gets creative for Scarecrow Festival

Creative residents in Gildersome pulled out all the stops for the village’s sixth annual Scarecrow Festival.

The cricket club, children’s centre, schools, churches, guides, scouts and residents were among those who decorated the straw people into creations including a tin man, clowns and a knitted gardener - attracting more than 3,000 visitors.

Gildersome Parish Councillor Kathy Cook, an organiser, said: “It was an absolutely wonderful community event.”
