South Leeds: Councillor backs 20mph plans

l

l

Plans for a 20mph zone near schools in central Morley have been welcomed.

Leeds City Council is considering proposals to introduce the lower speed zone in an area that includes Albert Road, the Newlands, Denshaws and Middleton estates and many roads around Morley town centre.

Coun Neil Dawson (Lab, Morley South) said: “I am pleased that the council are looking at creating a 20mph zone in this area.

“Many children going to Newlands and Seven Hills School walk along Albert Road and through these estates.”

The zone will include traffic calming features in Albert Road, as speed surveys show speeds to be higher than desired over a 24 hour period there.
