A new Leeds community centre has been awarded thousands of pounds of funding.
The newly-established Cow Close Community Centre, in Farnley, has received a grant worth over £4,800 to help it become a new social hub.
The new centre, which will house five computers with free internet access, is set to offer advice and support to residents.
The money will go towards providing a manager and development manger for the centre who will work with local residents and partners to develop the site.
Councillor John Hardy (Lab, Farnley and Wortley) said: “Whilst it was sad to see the closure of the Cow Close Library, it is great to see the building get a new lease of life.
“I believe the community centre will become a new social hub for the area and I look forward to seeing the centre take shape.
“I would like to thank my colleagues on the Outer West Area Committee for funding this project, and Armley Junior Project 4 Young People for setting up the centre.
“I am looking forward to officially opening the centre in March.”
