A slippery customer will help a Leeds charity shop to scare up new business as they challenge people to face their biggest fears.
Lady J, a magnificent Brazilian Rainbow Boa, will be one of a host of terrifying visitors to The Sue Ryder shop in Headingley later this month.
Staff at the shop have decided to hold the event to help fund assistant manager Felicity Parsons’ charity trek through darkest Peru.
She told the YEP: “I have loved snakes for as long as I can remember and was given my snake Lady J, a Brazilian Rainbow Boa, a few years ago for Christmas.
“In May 2013 I will be embarking on the challenge of trekking the Inca Trail in Peru for Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice.
“Most people are afraid of travelling due to all the creepy crawlies living in tropical countries, but I can’t wait to explore Peru and view all the local wildlife”.
As well as snakes, the Face Your Fears event, which will be held on Sunday, September 30, is set to include spiders, cockroaches, clowns, dogs, dentists and dolls- all in a bid to help people conquer their phobias.
Georgina Abbott, running and challenge fundraiser for Sue Ryder said: “Facing your fears isn’t easy, but this event will allow participants to have fun and get involved in a safe environment. It’s fantastic Felicity is trekking the Inca Trail in Peru, which now has a limited number of tourist entries available so we are pleased to be able to offer places on this adventurous trek.”
Tickets for the event are priced at £5 and can be bought from the Sue Ryder shop in Headingley.
The event will start at 11am on Sunday, September 30.
