Smokeless cigarette is a world beater
A Leeds businessman has scooped his sixth gold of the year for a gadget that could improve the lungs and hearts of millions of people worldwide.
Cardiologist-turned-inventor David Xiu’s battery-powered cigarette has picked up accolades from around the globe, including the top prize in the health category of the 4th International Invention Fair in the Middle East.
Each year, smoking-related diseases kill around 10 million people - including 80,000 in England.
The former doctor’s tobacco-less gadget looks, feels and tastes like a real cigarette, and contains nicotine but has none of the other toxins such as tar and cancer-causing carcinogens.
It can even save smokers money said Dr Xiu who claims one cartridge provides between 280 and 350 puffs or the equivalent to a pack of 20 tobacco cigarettes.
He said: “We are delighted that another international panel of experts at another very important exhibition has seen the great health potential of my patented Modern Electronic Cigarette and awarded us a gold medal.
“This follows our successes at other prestigious invention shows this year in Geneva, London, Nuremberg and Pennsylvania.”
Dr Xiu is the managing director and founder of Superdragon Group in Whinmoor, Leeds, which supplies acupuncture needles, herbal and healthcare products.
His award-winning e-cigarette provides inhaled doses of nicotine by way of a vaporized solution.
No tobacco, smoke or combustion is involved in its operation.
Dr Xiu estimates his device could potentially save the NHS in England more than £440m each year by cutting the number of patients treated for smoking and passive-smoking related illnesses.
Dr Xiu is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and a former consultant cardiologist and holds six worldwide patents for electronic cigarettes, including the UK and China.

Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:15 AMSmoking is banned by Orthodox Jewish religion and Jews are interested in enforcing their religious ban on all public places worldwide by any way without moral. First ban of cigarettes in modern human history was in working camps in Nazi Germany. The camps were under self-government of Jews and orthodox Jews created smoking ban in camps according their religion. Camps were happy Jewish town in fact. After the end of WW2 Jews have been creating the same happy Jewish towns in Israel under the name of kibbutz. It looks likes as a big comedy but it is a serious matter. In recent times orthodox Jews created ambivalent situation among medics. Medics ask higher taxes on cigarettes to be lower consumption and at the same time the same medics ask permit for sale of drugs and weed. It is coexistence of conflicting tendencies and it is symptom of schizophrenia. The same case is a taxation of selected food so called as an unhealthy. In recent times some European countries put levy on some food because ones have had declared as unhealthy. It is again consequence of activities of Orthodox Jews. It would be very interesting compare a list of food restricted in an Orthodox Judaism, a list of food which Jews had restricted to buy during Nazi Germany and a list of food which are on the list of food for high taxation in recent times. Jewish religion strictly restricts frying meals!!! For that reason just now is worldwide campaign against frying chips and for high taxation of ones in the first instance. Crips are frying meal too and campaigners want restriction of one too. What next? Maybe will come restriction of a garlic.
