Slideshow: Spandau Ballet packs out comeback tour show
Eighties pop legends Spandau Ballet have returned to the spotlight after an absence of two decades for the first show of their comeback tour.
Well-documented differences between band members were not evident as they burst on to the stage last night at Dublin's 02 Arena accompanied by a video montage of their early days.
Dapper as ever, suited frontman Tony Hadley said the five-strong act was glad to return almost 20 years since splitting.
"It took a bit of time but we've come back," he told the packed venue.
"We've missed you I tell you, we've really missed you.
"It was a long time coming but we're finally here."
The group performed old favourites from the back catalogue along with a selection of material from their new album, Once More.
"We only thought when we got together again that we were going to have a tour and have a lot of fun. We also got a record deal," Hadley said.
"We lived together, drank and ate together and partied together - we didn't go to bed with a cup of hot cocoa."
The reunion comes after a long separation during which three of the band's members unsuccessfully attempted to sue guitarist Gary Kemp for royalties they claimed they were owed.
The group originally formed back in the late 1970s and soon became well-known for their slick suits and chart hits including Gold, Through the Barricades, and slow dance classic True.
After 25 million record sales, six multi-platinum albums and 23 hit singles, Spandau Ballet split in 1990.
But the band announced their Reformation reunion tour in March, which sees them visit venues across Ireland and the UK before travelling to other European cities including Rome, Berlin and Barcelona.
