SLIDESHOW: Leeds girl wins poetry prize
Autumn is here in all its glory. The season the Americans call Fall has covered the parks and fields across Leeds in a blanket of brown and gold.
As these pictures taken at Harewood House show it is one of the prettiest times of year.
And one schoolgirl was so inspired by the sights and sounds of what is the traditional season of harvest she has written poem about it which is being published across the region.
Lucy Reynard, a pupil at Chapel Allerton Primary School, entered a national competition with her poem Autumnal Days.
And the 10-year-old's work is to be published in a book, Celebrating Seasons.
Lucy volunteered to write a poem for the competition at the end of the last school year after hearing about it at homework club.
Mum Marcia said: "She didn't say a word about entering the competition.
"Then one day we had a letter to say she had won and was going to be published in the book.
"She loves writing and obviously we're very proud of her."
Lucy, who hopes to be a doctor when she grows up, often writes poetry in her spare time.
She said: "I like writing because you can express yourself in a different way.
"Autumn is not my favourite season though – I like winter best because I like chucking snowballs at people."
The winning poem will be included in the Yorkshire edition of the book for primary school children.
Celebrating Seasons, which is published by Peterborough-based Young Writers, will be available to order from bookshops from the end of November.
