Sir Jimmy Savile photograph to make millions for charity
An image of Sir Jimmy Savile wearing his trademark red-tinted glasses could be set to raise thousands for charity.
Dave Cropper took the photograph of Sir Jimmy when the 84-year-old attended a birthday party at the Priests House Restaurant, near Bolton Abbey, last year.
The shot was used repeatedly in the regional and national press over the 84-year-old’s three day funeral.
It was also printed on the order of service at St Anne’s Cathedral on November 9.
And the powerful image - which captured the ex-DJ in a contemplative mood - was also re-produced for a display when the body of Sir Jimmy was laid ‘in state’ in his gold coloured coffin at the Queen’s Hotel the day before his funeral.

More than 5,000 filed pass it as they paid their final respects in scenes which almost brought the city to a standstill.
Now Mr Cropper, of Bradford, has put it up for sale.
He said: “I had been told it was one of his favourite images of himself. I would now like to see the image put to good use and see it auctioned for charity, to one of his good causes.”
Sir Jimmy wore the specs in 2007 to a charity awards ceremony at the Queen’s Hotel. An over-enthusiastic fan pinched the glasses from off his nose.
At the time Sir Jimmy said: “I was walking down the corridor and this girl was overcome and jumped on me and wrestled my John Lennon-style glasses off my head and legged it. It was marvellous because I haven’t been jumped on by a girl for nearly 50 years.”
The glasses were returned a few days later and no charges were brought, although police did investigate.
Anyone who has any ideas for raising money with the photograph should contact Dave through the website at www.davecropper.net.
