Sir David Attenborough: New Wakefield museum opened by top broadcaster

Sir David Attenborough meets eight-year-old Finlay Cameron.

Hundreds of people have turned out to witness Sir David Attenborough open a new museum in Wakefield.

The award-winning broadcaster opened Wakefield One, which houses displays of work by Wakefield-born naturalist Charles Waterton, where he unveiled a plaque on Saturday. (March 9)

The work by Waterton, whose travels in South America in the 1800s influenced Sir David, is part of a permanent display that moved from Wood Street to the new Wakefield One, in Burton Street, last November.
