Singer Jane McDonald asks Leeds runners to brave cold

Runners will don their scarves and gloves along with their trainers for a new fundraising event at Harewood House.
Wrap Up and Run, a 10km event around the historic mansion grounds, will raise money for Age UK.
It is being backed by Wakefield’s former cruise ship singer and current Loose Women panellist Jane McDonald.
She said: “Wrap Up and Run is a great chance to dust off your running shoes and face those dull winter evenings head-on.
“Instead of sitting inside waiting for spring to arrive, get out there and go for a run.
“All your training will be for a great cause as the money raised will go towards helping older people.”
Money raised from the March 18 run will go towards Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign to help older people keep warm during winter.
Some of the cash will go to the charity’s Leeds base for the Meals at Home service and an older carer’s support service.
Julia Edmunds, corporate director at Age UK Leeds, said: “Keeping warm in the winter months is particularly difficult for older people.
“Taking part in the Harewood run is a great opportunity to fundraise for your local Age UK as well as getting fit for you.
“Money raised supports our work with older people locally in Leeds.”
Fiona Jerman, Age UK’s special and challenge events manager, added: “2012 promises to be a festival of sport in the UK and the Wrap up and Run event provide runners with their very own challenge.
“So whether you’re a seasoned runner or a novice doing your first event, we’re welcoming anyone to run, challenge yourself and most importantly to have fun on the day.”
The event costs £14.95 to enter.
