Serial Leeds sex attacker hands himself in

Sean Cawthray.

Sean Cawthray.

A serial sex attacker from Leeds has handed himself in to the police after more than a month on the run from prison.

Sean Cawthray, formerly of Kippax, gave himself up in the Yorkshire seaside resort of Bridlington over the weekend.

Cawthray, 41, went missing from an open prison in Gloucestershire on December 30.

He was jailed for life in 2002 for abducting a 14-year-old schoolgirl from a bus stop in Station Road, Kippax.

Cawthray had previously been locked up in 1990 for raping a 15-year-old girl in Leeds.

He was jailed again in 1993 after another rape conviction, this time over an attack in the Leicester area.
