Separate MMR jabs on offer for Leeds children
A clinic offering separate innoculations for children is taking place in Leeds on Saturday.
Healthchoice UK is running the session providing individual measles and rubella jabs at the Leeds Chiropractic Clinic on Harrogate Road, Moortown.
The firm said there was a temporary shortage of the mumps vaccine, but they hoped to be able to provide this again in future.
The jabs are an alternative to the controversial combined MMR jab, which has been linked to conditions including autism, although studies have since shown this is not the case. Kathryn Durnford, managing director of Healthchoice UK, said: "It is important that parents have the choice of single vaccines so that their children are protected.
"Healthchoice UK will be giving the people of Leeds a chance to take this alternative protection option on Saturday with the opportunity to have their children receive the individual inoculations."
The clinic, which runs from 10am until 2.30pm, will be supervised by qualified doctors and nurses.
Each individual injection will cost 100.
Parents who wish to make an appointment should call Healthchoice UK on 0870 443 9980 before 5pm today.
