Sadie: My feet haven't touched the floor yet!

By Chris Murphy DANCING queen Sadie Flower says her twinkling toes have hardly touched the ground since she won TV's Strictly Dance Fever crown.

The reality of her win is only just starting to sink in for 19-year-old Sadie, who along with competition partner Joseph Hall was voted into top slot at the weekend by millions of viewers who have been following the hit BBC1 show.

After a string of interviews and television appearances, Sadie finally returned home yesterday to Methley, Leeds, to ponder her glittering future and work out what to spend her 25,000 winnings on.

Brilliant

Accepting a special "Well Done" front page from the Yorkshire Evening Post, she said: "I still haven't come back down to earth yet. Coming back up to Yorkshire and seeing my friends has brought it all back.

"Every now and again, it hits you what has happened and it sends you mad for a couple of minutes but it has been such a brilliant experience all the way through.

"When our names were read out on Saturday, I wasn't in that building – I just collapsed. It seemed like we were on that stage for a few weeks waiting to hear who'd won.

"I haven't had time to breathe since. I went to the party afterwards but I only had two drinks because I was chatting so much! Then I've been doing interviews on the BBC and being rushed from here to there."

Sadie and Joseph were paired together as one of 30 couples after the main show began in March.

More than 80,000 non-professional dancers had applied.

"Joseph and I sat down when we got paired together and had a chat about our goals and aims and we both said we were determined to do the best we could," Sadie explained.

"It was a long show and we had our ups and downs but when we got to the final we thought, 'this is our time and we've got to prove to everyone we can do it'.

"We were disappointed with a few things in the final but I think that was maybe due to the extra nerves and pressure getting to us a bit, but overall we have been pretty consistent. I still can't believe we won though!"

Sadie, who is a part-time receptionist and mobile nail technician, says her winnings will go towards reducing her credit card bill and a relaxing holiday before the focus switches straight back to her career.

She added: "I want to dance and perform as long as I can and then I'll go into choreography when I get a bit older."
