Roxanne Pallett hosts Leeds barroom battle of the sexes
She never saw anything like THIS down at The Woolpack.
Former Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett headed back to Leeds to preside over a bar room battle of the sexes.
Taking place at The Arc in Headingley, the contest pitched lads and lasses against each other in three disciplines – arm wrestling, keepy-uppies and contortion.
And the girls were definitely no pushover, taking plenty of scalps in the competition, staged to promote the new range of Pringles Extreme crisps.
Among the girl challengers was Joanne Poole, who holds the title of Strongest Girl in Britain, who is pictured pushing student Alex Atkinson to the limit.
Roxanne told the YEP: "It's very funny to watch the men get beaten by the girls – they should know that girls are best!"
Soap siren Roxanne, 26, left the hit show last Christmas when her character Jo Sugden finally left her wife-beating husband Andy.
The harrowing scenes were tough to film for Roxanne, who later admitted she herself had been a victim of domestic violence.
She's now enjoying some lighter roles, however – earlier this year she starred in TV's Dancing on Ice and this Christmas will be appearing as Cinderella in pantomime at Newcastle.
But she hasn't ruled out a future return to the Yorkshire-based soap which made her name.
She said: "It was my choice to leave. It does take guts to leave a regular job and a regular income. But I didn't want to become complacent and didn't want the job to become repetitive.
"I wanted to leave on a high note and I think I did that.
"The door was left open for me to come back and that's something I would consider if the storyline was right. If it was challenging for me and the character."
