"School Travel Plans are of benefit to everyone. Pupils are provided with safe ways of travelling to school and an opportunity to stay fit, it helps to protect our environment and eases congestion on our roads. The school also receives a substantial funding boost for its efforts. Roundhay High has provided its pupils will some great alternatives to car travel and they thoroughly deserve their reward."

Councillor Valerie Kendall (Con, Roundhay) said:

"Roundhay Technology College, of which I am proud to be a governor, is one of the best performing schools in Leeds and has excellent links to the local community. Because of its success, the school attracts applicants and pupils from a wide area.

"I congratulate the school for putting its travel plan in place. It thoroughly deserves its reward, which I am sure will be put to good use making the school even greener."

Councillor Matthew Lobley (Con, Roundhay) added:

"For some parents, car journeys to school are the only choice, but where pupils live close enough to walk or cycle, we want to be able to ensure that they can do so safely. Roundhay Technology College has helped us to do this by getting their travel plan in place. This plan will hopefully mean that many kids become fitter and healthier by walking or cycling to school."
