"Money raised in the appeal will be shared between KOST (the Kenyan Orphan Sponsorship Trust); the Sylvia Wright Trust, and Commitment for Life, a United Reformed Church charity supporting work in Bangladesh, Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and Israel and Palestine," said Rev David Pickering.
"The money will make a real difference to the lives of some of the world's most needy and vulnerable people. Last year our appeal raised 12,000."

Gill Waterhouse, KOST trustee and a member of St Andrew's, added: "We have 112 children in our care. Some are displaced from other parts of Kenya.

"This year has brought new on-going challenges as the situation in Kenya has deteriorated. Poverty has increased to desperate levels in the Homa Bay area, where KOST operates, but with God's help we have continued to provide stability and security for some of the most vulnerable children. Providing enough food for the children has become our main focus. So, the money raised by the St Andrew's Appeal will be put to good use."
"Sylvia Wright opened a new outpatients clinic this year, which treats people with diabetes and heart disease," said St Andrew's member Betsey Whiting, on behalf of the Sylvia Wright Trust. "It's more than 25 years since Sylvia followed Jesus's example and gave up everything she had and went to serve poor people in Tamil Nadu, one of poorest areas of India. Because the diet of the average villager there is so poor, it is known as the diabetic capital of the world.
"Sylvia Wright's work, supported by the Leeds-based Sylvia Wright Trust, has made a huge difference to people's lives in Tamil Nadu. More is needed to continue this work, so we urge everyone to give generously to the St Andrew's appeal."
Pam Freeman, fund-raiser and member of St Andrew's, said, "Commitment for Life gives St Andrew's an opportunity to get directly involved in social justice issues. Working with Christian Aid, we are supporting projects in Bangladesh, Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and Palestine and Israel. Projects include providing food and water and supporting reconciliation work in Zimbabwe and Palestine.
"Commitment for Life is also contributing to two centres for children in Palestine, amongst other projects. All three charities in our appeal are in real need of help and we hope that you will be as generous as possible in these difficult times."
Rev Pickering added: "As you can see, the money raised by St Andrew's makes a real difference to people around the world who lack the support of the Welfare State that we have in this country. We pray that God will enable everyone to give generously."
