Roundhay Park: Cancer campaigners plant bulbs in Field of Hope

Next spring Roundhay Park will bloom with new daffodils as part of the campaign to fight the scourge of cancer.

Local supporters of the Marie Curie Field of Hope project have raised more than 600 for the charity's nursing service by planting 10,000 daffodil bulbs in the park in memory of loved ones lost to cancer and cash from the effort is still rolling in.

In the spring Marie Curie Cancer Care are to organise a Daffodil Trail Walk in Roundhay Park.

Philippa Gosper, Marie Curie local fundraiser said, "We are so grateful to everyone who came along to plant the bulbs and to those groups and individuals who donated money, it was a real community event. The money raised will enable our nurses to continue to care for local people, living with cancer, who are able to choose to remain at home throughout their illness".
