Rotary Club of Calverley plant apple orchard
The Rotary Club of Calverley have been busy planting an orchard of apple trees in the community.

They were purchased at the Caring for Life Project at the farm in Cookridge Leeds.
These trees one they get to maturity will provide fruit for the project but also help to sustain the work of Caring for Life as it can also be made into items that can be sold in the farm shop.

In the future the club are hoping to build a sump on the land and also help to plant hedging alongside the newly opened road.
Caring for Life Project is a Christian organisation that deals with people with problems from all walks of life. Whilst homelessness is often the problem that brings a person to them, they usually find this is just the tip of the iceberg, and a whole range of other problems lie beneath the surface.
A large proportion have experienced physical or sexual abuse, some have learning difficulties, others a psychiatric disorder or psychological problems, and some have been involved in offending or drug abuse.
Last week a plaque was mounted on the dry stone wall at the farm which had been built by members to commerate this.
