Masked robbers armed with a gun and a knife raided a post office in Leeds.

Police are appealing for information after the incident at Parklands Post Office, on Stonegate Road in Meanwood, yesterday morning (Tuesday).

Two men wearing balaclavas threatened two security guards who were delivering cash to the branch at about 11.25am.

Detective Inspector Mark Swift, from Leeds District CID, said: “The suspects were armed with what is thought to have been a handgun and a knife and made off with a cash box.

A stolen silver Audi A6, which was used by the suspects, was found abandoned on nearby King Alfred’s Drive.

The robbers are then thought to have fled on foot across the playing fields of Cardinal Heenan School towards Tongue Lane.

Det Insp Swift added: “Fortunately no one was injured the incident but staff have been left shocked by the incident.

“I am particularly appealing for witnesses who may have seen the suspects abandon the car on King Alfred’s Drive or who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area around Tongue Lane

“I would also ask for anyone who may have encountered someone affected by dye marks as the stolen cash contained dye packs.”

Anyone with information should contact CID at Stainbeck Police Station via 101.
