When Leeds University’s Equestrian Society ditched their jodphurs and jackets for a saucy charity calendar last year, some dismissed it as tack-y.
One high-profile TV anchor went as far as to brand the fundraising snaps “porn”.
But, as the pictures show, the girls have ignored the neigh-sayers and got back in the saddle for a 2013 follow-up.
Club captain Charlotte Wright, 22, said: “We raised so much money last year, and it’s something we’re really proud of.
“We had more girls wanting to do it this year than we could use. I think the result is even better.”
Eight members of the society received international press coverage after posing seminaked in support of Otley and District Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) for last year’s calendar.
After featuring in the YEP, they attracted the attention of Australian television, Germanmagazines and national newspapers including the Daily Mail and the Sun.
Sales of the calendars raised about £2,000 for the charity.
But some people were less than complimentary.
Blogging about their efforts, Sky News journalist Colin Brazier wrote “Ladies, it’s porn”.
However, Miss Wright said the criticism merely spurred them on.
She said: “We had quite a lot of negative comments, but a lot of the girls said the bad press about it being over-sexualised didn’t bother them.
“We like to think that every bad bit of press led to the sale of another calendar.
“Every girl who was still here this year wanted to be in it again and we had lots more who wanted to do it too.”
Fifteen girls took part in this year’s photoshoot at the Wilsden Equestrian Centre, in Wilsden, Bradford.
The cash will again go to the RDA, which gives disabled people the chance to ride.
Members of the society volunteer at the charity’s centres, in Guiseley and Middleton Park.
