A 64-year-old man who faces six rape charges plus a string of sex abuse allegations has appeared in court.
Ernest Hilton Jones appeared before magistrates at Pontefract yesterday (Jan 30) to face six charges of rape of a woman over 16 between May 2011 and July 2012 at an address in Pontefract.
Jones spoke only to confirm his name, age and address – Mill Garth, Pontefract – during yesterday’s brief hearing.
The court heard Jones has also been charged with five counts of assaulting a female over 13 by penetration, four charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm and a dozen other charges.
He was granted conditional bail and told to appear at Leeds Crown Court next month.
