Psychic can help beat spectre of relegation

A top psychic investigator has made a New Year's resolution that should make Leeds United, and Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles very happy.

Ghosthunter Dean "Midas" Maynard has pledged to use his special powers to save the club from relegation – in honour of his brother Steven, and motormouth Chris, both life-long Leeds fans.

In the past, Dean has channelled positive energy into clubs like Wigan Warriors, who were threatened with relegation from last year's Super League after winning just two out of 16 matches.

Fans asked Dean to help and, after he became involved, the club won nine out of 10 matches – avoiding relegation.

Dean, 34, said he wanted to help Leeds United, currently second from bottom in the Coca Cola Championship, in honour of his older brother Steven, and DJ Chris, pictured left, who interviewed Dean for his Channel 5 show three years ago.

He told the YEP: "Steven is Leeds through and through and he's devastated with the situation they're currently in.

"By supporting the team, going to matches and sending out positive vibes, hopefully confidence levels will rise and it won't be long before the club starts climbing the table.

"I was also interviewed by celebrity Leeds fan Chris Moyles and he was an absolute top bloke.

"By saving Leeds, it would be my way of saying thanks to Chris for one of the highlights of my career so far."

Dean is currently working to save League Two side Macclesfield Town, who are now unbeaten in nine matches having started the season with no wins from 21 games.

He also supported Leona Lewis from the first time he saw her in ITV1's X Factor – and the 21-year-old won the show and reached number one with her debut single.

The psychic, who lives in Durham with his wife Stina, spends his time ghostbusting at some of Britain's most haunted venues.

He added: "I could just be a lucky charm for teams, it might be as simple as that.

"I'm not into witchcraft, I don't do any spells, I don't bend spoons and I'm not friends with Michael Jackson.

"I'm a realist, I live in the real world and I know it's all down to the manager and the players.

"But if there's anything I can do to help, obviously it's a bonus."
