Probe into ladder death fall tragedy

AN investigation has been launched after a man died from head injuries after falling from a ladder on a building site.

Bricklayer Charles Waring, 40, was working at Grange Farm, at Wetherby Road, Little Ribston, Wetherby, during the afternoon of January 29 when he fell from a small step-ladder and suffered head and shoulder injuries.

It is understood the site he was working on was small scale.

Mr Waring, who lived with his wife at Kirkside Court, Harrogate, was taken to Harrogate District Hospital but later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary with serious head injuries.

Trauma

An inquest opening in Leeds heard he slipped into a coma and the trauma suffered by his brain was untreatable. He died the day after the accident at Leeds General Infirmary.

A provisional cause of death as given as head injuries.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the circumstances of his death. The inquest was adjourned pending the outcome of the HSE investigation.

A burial order was issued.
