A porky portrait of a prize-winning Leeds pig could be set to fetch up to £12,000 at auction.
An unusual painting by E S England is up for sale at Bonhams’ annual Gentleman’s Library Sale in London later this month.
It depicts a large white sow that was a cup winner at the Leeds Fat Stock Show of 1906.
Painted at a time when livestock shows took place in most Yorkshire towns, it is owned by William Watson Buckle, the head pigman at Harewood House and has been passed down through the original owner’s family.
