A much-loved visitor attraction in Leeds is closing temporarily so it can undergo refurbishment.

The Arnold and Marjorie Ziff Tropical World at Roundhay Park will be out of action from Monday, January 6, up to and including Sunday, February 2. Toilets will be redecorated and electrical improvements carried out during the closedown.

A second phase of work later in the year will include measures such as a conservatory extension to the site’s cafe.

The £720,000 refurbishment programme is being supported by the family of the late Leeds philanthropist Arnold Ziff.

Tropical World is home to a whole range of wildlife, from butterflies and birds through to monkeys and meerkats. It is visited by 300,000 people each year.
