POP stars Atomic Kitten helped put on a spectacular Christmas party for some of Wakefield’s disadvantaged children.

Famous Pop kittens Kerry Katona, Liz McLarnon and Natasha Hamilton joined forces with children’s charity Barnardo’s for the event at St Catherine’s Centre in Belle Vue, which was filmed for ITV’s Big Christmas Reunion show.

The party aimed to bring festive cheer to struggling young families.

Barnardo’s is one of six charities being supported by ITV’s Text Santa fundraiser this year, which pop stars including Atomic Kitten have recorded for a charity Christmas single.

Barnardo’s Allan McLaren said: “Having Atomic Kitten visit and speak to the young mums and hand out presents, was a dream come true for all and a very welcome break from the everyday pressures of being a young parent at this time of year.

“Money raised will help Barnardo’s provide vital support for the most vulnerable children to turn their lives around and break out of the vicious cycle of poverty.”

Part of the music video for the single, which is A Big Reunion version of Wizzard’s ‘I wish it could be Christmas everyday’ was filmed at the centre and the children are featured singing with the Kittens.

The Big Christmas Reunion will air on ITV2 on December 12 at 9pm and ITV on December 14 at 5.30pm.
