Pop group Black Lace visit Leeds school
They might not have heard of Black Lace but youngsters at a north Leeds school certainly knew their hits.
They danced and swayed – and sometimes shielded their ears – to songs like Agadoo and Superman.

"They were excellent with the children and encouraged audience participation. It was very much an interactive session and at the end of it Black Lace gave postcard pictures of themselves to the youngsters.

"If they weren't fans of the group beforehand, they are now."
Mrs Cabry said the school had received a flyer about Black Lace and took up their offer to visit the school.
"Music is one of the particular strengths of the school," she said, "and this was a wonderful opportunity to further enhance our music curriculum and enjoy it too."
Today's Black Lace singers Dene Michael and Ian Robinson were not a part of it when the group formed 40 years ago as a five-piece band. The original members came from Leeds and Wakefield.
The group represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1979 with the song Mary Ann which scored 73 points and finished seventh.
In 1985 Black Lace recorded a charity record You'll Never Walk Alone with The Crowd to raise funds for families of the victims of the
Bradford City stadium fire.
The brand name has been kept alive down the years by different personnel and Dene Michael was a member some 20 years ago.
But this year he teamed up with Liverpudlian singer Ian Robinson to revive it and they did a video version of Agadoo. Ironically, neither of them sang on the original hit in 1984.
