Police plea after Leeds sex assault

POLICE were appealing for information after a young woman was sexually assaulted in Leeds.

The 21-year-old victim was walking on Wyther Lane in Bramley just before 6.20am last Friday when she was set upon by her attacker.

He pushed the woman to the floor and repeatedly punched her before carrying out the sex assault.

The man ran off when a passing motorist stopped and tried to intervene.

Detectives believe a number of other vehicles were in the area at the time and have urged anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

Witnesses are asked to contact Det Con 2597 Nathalie Tasker at Weetwood police station on 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further enquiries.
