Police hunting football hooligans who caused mayhem in a town swooped on addresses in Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield, arresting 15 suspects.
In the first phase on Tuesday, three men aged 19, 18 and 16 were detained in raids in Beeston, Leeds, and five others aged 47, 26, 21, 19 and 16 were arrested simultaneously in Huddersfield and districts including Deighton, Lockwood and Golcar in connection with the disorder in Huddersfield town centre on May 19.
In the second phase of the secret operation run by Huddersfield CID two other males aged 19 and 15 were detained in the Bramley and Halton areas of Leeds and five others aged 17, 20, 47, 26, and 45 were locked up in swoops in Mirfield, Shipley, Huddersfield and the Marsh and Crossland Moor districts.
Prior to the start of the swoops 11 people, aged 17, 18, 17, 20 and 17 from Kirkstall, Armley, Hunslet, Whinmoor and Stanks area of Leeds had been arrested along with six others aged 19, 17, 20, 19, 16 and 15 from Batley, Tingley, Wyke, Selby, Shelley and Huddersfield.
At least one more suspect was still outstanding last night. The trouble coincided with the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday, May 19 in which West Ham beat Blackpool 2-1, when fighting fans took to the streets and invaded Huddersfield railway station.
