Police are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run incident in Leeds which left an 11-year-old boy in hospital.

The boy was hit by a small silver or grey car, possibly a Vauxhall Corsa, in Gamble Hill Drive, Bramley on Saturday at around 5pm.

The car, which was said to be driven by a woman with blonde hair, stopped briefly but then drove off.

The boy suffered a serious ankle injury that will require a “significant stay in hospital,” police said.

The accident scene is near Greenhill Primary School.

A Leeds City Council spokeswoman said the area was already under “active consideration” for a speed-limit reduction to 20mph. Contact PC 5463 Cheryl Moore on 0113 2413730 or via 101.
