Playhouse focus on learning disabilities

WEST Yorkshire Playhouse is to hold an open day to get young people with learning disabilities into acting.

People aged 14 to 25 with learning difficulties are being urged to come along with friends and family for an introduction to First Floor, the Playhouse’s new city centre space where young people can take part in creative activities.

It aims to inspire young people to try out new things and get involved in a range of activities like drama workshops, junk sculpture, rap and graffiti art.

Leeds-born actor and Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd, aka David Platt, is the patron of First Floor.

A range of activities, from music and song writing to physical theatre, will be on at the event on Saturday April 25 from 11am to 3.20pm. No previous experience is necessary.

First Floor forms part of 6 St Peter’s Building, next to Yorkshire Dance, opposite the bus station in Leeds city centre. For more details visit www.wyp.org.uk, e-mail firstfloor@wyp.org.uk or call 07595 082045.
