Pedestrian killed in car crash is named

A pedestrian who was killed in a car crash at the weekend has been named by police.

Julie Shaw, 45, from Normanton, was killed after being hit by a blue Ford Fiesta in the Crofton area of Wakefield on Sunday.

The incident happened at around 5.05pm on Santingley Lane.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and the road was closed until 10pm.

An 18-year-old man who was driving the Ford Fiesta was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail.
