Parking fines for Wakefield Wildcats rugby fans

l

l

Police clamped down on illegal parking on streets surrounding Wakefield Wildcats’ stadium during the club’s home clash against Salford City Reds on Sunday.

Officers issued £30 parking tickets to 22 motorists who had parked illegally on streets surrounding the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Doncaster Road in the Belle Vue area of Wakefield.

Police said the action was in response to concerns raised by residents about illegal parking in the area on match days.

A spokesman for Wakefield Police said: “Some vehicles were parked in such a way that there would be no access for emergency vehicles. Pavements were also blocked making it a no-go zone for buggies, pushchairs and wheelchairs.

“We are working with Wakefield Wildcats and will continue to patrol the area on match days and ask that all motorists park their vehicles legally, considerately and safely.”

A Wakefield Wildcats spokesman said: The club works with residents, community groups and the police to keep any disruption caused by parking on a match day to a minimum.”
