'Oven explosion' theory in pie firm death
A pie factory worker's grieving mother believes her son was killed by an explosion in an oven.
Margaret Townend, whose son, David Cole, died in a blast on Good Friday, has laid flowers at the Andrew Jones Pies plant in Huddersfield.
She broke down as she said: "It is just awful. I just don't know what has happened here. I can't believe he has gone."
Mrs Townend said she was told of her son's death at about 3pm on Good Friday.
She added: "Up until then the police said his body was still in the building. They could not get him out because the building was not safe."
Mr Cole, 37, from Salterhebble, Halifax, died in the early hours of Good Friday.
Six other people were hurt. A 23-year-old man from the Crosland Moor area of Huddersfield suffered serious injuries.
He remains in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. His condition is critical but improving. The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the explosion.
