One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is teaming up with former club chairman John Ryan in an attempt to buy Doncaster Rovers according to reports.
The locally-born pop star and Mr Ryan are said to have reached an advances stage with negotiations to take over the club.
Mr Ryan still owns a quarter of the club after stepping down as chairman last November and is partnering up with Tomlinson to buy out fellow major shareholders Terry Bramall and Dick Watson.
The report suggests Ryan and Tomlinson will act as co-chairman should their takeover bid be successful.
A source told The Sun: “This is his passion project and it will happen.
“He is putting everything into it because of his love for the side.”
Tomlinson was ‘signed’ by Rovers last summer and played for the club’s development squad against Rotherham United earlier this year.
A takeover attempt at Rovers by Belize-based hedgefund Sequentia Capital, backed by Ryan, failed last year.
